The role

Speciality Doctor in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry covering North and Mid Devon

The postholder’s responsibilities will be to provide psychiatric services to adults with Intellectual Disabilities under the care of the North and Mid Devon Intensive Assessment and Treatment Team (IATT) under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability who works with the team.

The postholder will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies as well as have good relationships with mental health services. The post is available now due to the previous substantive post holder moving on to a different role within the Trust. The post is substantive and is community based only with no on call or inpatient responsibilities.


About you

We are interested in recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Specialty Doctor who is interested in shaping the future in terms of their career and the provision of services.

The post holder is expected to help maximise the access of people with intellectual disability to the services and resources available from mainstream Mental Health and other services through such devices as collaborative/joint working.

The role of the Specialty Doctor is to support the Consultant in their role as the clinical lead of the team.
