PHE has been commissioned by the Department of Work and Pensions and Department of Health and Social Care’s Joint Health and Work Unit to undertake key projects to support the ‘Improving Lives: The Future of Work, Health and Disability’ and specifically the ‘work as a health outcome’ work stream. This is a great new opportunity participate in a high profile cross-government agenda with the potential to achieve lasting cultural change and improvement in population health.
PHE is recruiting a Health and Work Clinical Champions; based in the North East. You will be expected to work in partnership with PHE and with external organisations and strategic partners to support collaborative partnerships that build the social movement for work as a health outcome across the landscape of clinicians.
The Health and Work Champions will be responsible for delivering some standardised training sessions across practicing and trainee doctors (e.g. through vocational training schemes, protected learning time, etc.) to raise awareness, develop skills and change the clinical practice of healthcare professionals to make work a health outcome.
However, the primary focus of these roles will be to develop the potential strategic leadership for this agenda within clinical care across the local system, working with the national team and system partners to facilitate local clinician networks and develop mechanisms to sustainably embed this issue into the clinical culture and narrative of the area.
