The role

The post-holder’s responsibilities will be to provide community psychiatric services (assessment, diagnosis and treatment) to adults with Intellectual disabilities living within South Hams and West Devon areas (total population approximately 139,300 according to Devon County Council 2016 mid-year population estimate) that are being managed by the Learning Disability Intensive Assessment and Treatment Team – IATT.

The social care provision is from Devon County Council. The post-holder will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies as well as have good relationships with mental health services.

The post-holder will be based at Follaton House, Totnes with the IATT team. The post holder is fully embedded in the IATT team allowing for a “New Ways of Working” approach where the routine monitoring and follow up will not necessarily be done by the Consultant who is now available to be flexible in responding to those in the greatest need of input and for consultation to the rest of the team.

The average referral rate to the team is 20 per week out of which there is an average of about 1 referral per month for Consultant Psychiatry input. The current Consultant caseload is 22.

Relocation package are negotiable up to £8000.00

About you

We are interested in recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Consultant who is interested in shaping the future in terms of their own career and the provision of services. The post holder is expected to help maximize the access of people with intellectual disability to the services and resources available from mainstream Mental Health and other services through such devices as collaborative/joint working

. The role of the Consultant is to be the clinical lead of the team and to ensure that high quality, patient-centered, effective, safe and efficient care is delivered by the team.
